Current Question: Why do we complicate so many simple things?
I want to write a poem.
About a girl who once shone as bright as the sun,
And glistened like a shooting star.
Who's eyes twinkled when she smiled -
Which was often,
And who's laughter echoed all day long.
About a girl who embraced everything
And accepted people for who they are.
A girl who had her faults, but had many more virtues -
About a girl who had hope, and truly believed in her future.
But one day, that hope becomes shallow,
The glitter grows dull,
The twinkle all but disapears.
The shooting stars stop moving,
The smile turns itself inside-out.
Her eyes jaded, laughter faded into agonizing silence.
Her passion gone, her faults grown, her virtues diminished -
This girl who had so much promise
This girl who was once so chromatic, now faded to black & white.
I want to write a poem about a girl
Who could have had the world,
But she lost her drive, lost her innocence, lost her hope
And faded into the backdrop.
This wallflower became part of the scenery,
Just another face in the crowd,
Because something bad happened,
Something she couldnt get over, couldnt let go -
So she held on to it, as everything else drifted away.
This poem will show how much change can occur
For such small reasons, in such short time
Illustrating a supernova
Metamorphed into a black hole
And really,
What could ever be that bad
To turn technicolor into gray-scale?
What could jade the twinkle in her eyes?
And if this so easily molded
A beautiful butterfly
Into a common moth
Is there a cure
Within this poem
A translation in these words
To paint the sky with blue
To add a little shine?
To color all the black & white
And fix the broken lines?
I want to write a poem
About a girl who had it all
Lost it - gave up hope
But had hope instilled in her
And found herself again.
